Sony's KDL-40V3000
Bravia V
Series LCD TV
I usually find I'm satisfied with Sony products,
and the new Sony KDL-40V3000 Bravia is no exception. It has a
boatload of features, attractive looks, and delivers top-notch
performance.
The most basic, yet most important
part of a TV is its image quality, the KDL-40V3000 passes this test
with flying colors, pun fully intended! The KDL-40V3000s beautiful
1920 x 180 display will massage your eyes. With its 1,800:1 contrast
ratio, and its 10-bit processing it produces smooth transitions from
color to color, and its subtle color transitions look very
authentic.
The KDL-40V3000 features Sony's 24p
True Cinema and this is defiantly a good thing. Most movies are
filmed at 24 frames per second, while most TV shows are filmed at 25
frames per second. So, when you're watching a DVD, your TV must
close that one-second gap. Not the KDL-40V3000. True Cinema means it
comes with 24p input capability, so you can watch movies the right
way, at 24 frames per second.
It's also got theater mode. We've all
eagerly popped a movie into the our DVD player, sat back with our
feet raised and our buttery fresh popcorn, ready to drift off into
movie land only to realize something's a bit off. Yup, it's the
colors. So, we fumble around with the remote, trying desperately to
get the colors and contrast just right, only to get frustrated and
finally give up. The KDL-40V3000 makes it easy. With a simple push
of the index finger, the KDL-40V3000 will automatically employ the
optimal settings for your viewing experience. It's that simple.
The definition of TV it seems is
always expanding. The KDL-40V3000 uses a Sony technology known as
Digital Media Extender or Dmex for short. With the help of a Video
Link module (Sold Separately) Dmex allows users to view select
Internet videos through their TV, no computer necessary. Oh, and
speaking of computers, the KDL-40V3000 has a HD-15 pin input,
meaning it's also suitable for use as a monitor to your PC. It also
has HDMI, S-Video, Component Video and Composite Video inputs, which
means tons of connectivity options.
The more your home entertainment
center grows, the more demands grow on it's users. Simple things
like powering up your home entertainment center to watch a movie can
become more complex and time consuming. Sony's extremly helpful
Theater Sync makes life easier by allowing you assign multiple tasks
to a single button press. Basically one press will turn on your TV
and DVD player, find your DVD's input signal, change your TV to that
input and start playing your movie. Easy, right?
What's a good TV without good sound?
The KDL-40V3000 doesn't disappoint here either. It's got a feature
Sony calls S-Force Front Surround, which uses advanced algorithms to
squeeze virtual surround sound from just two speakers. No tangled
wires, no complicated setup.
If you're looking for a TV with
style, functionality, and quality the KDL-40V3000 is certainly an
impressive option.
