November 1985 saw the first-ever forms design software appear for any platform - FormTool 1.0 for the IBM PC, was introduced to a huge reception - as InfoWord said "This is the most useful program since VisiCalc".

FormTool was a revolutionary product - the 1st of its kind.  Amazingly, it originally created forms out of individual text characters, forming lines and boxes that could print on any printer.  Today's FormTool is completely graphical.  But as a result of that early design, FormTool became the standard and has been continuously published since 1985 - 23 years - older than Windows, older that Word or Excel, older than Inkjet printing!
