From the desk of Carl Fiorentino
It's not often I take the time to actually write anything about a product unless I think it's something special. This time, I'm pretty amazed. Here's the problem I have in my house - I try to keep a control on the amount of time that my children spend on the computer - so I came up with a simple solution - I let all four of my children share one computer, minimizing the amount of time that any of them spend online.
Their only complaint is that they cannot talk with their friends on messenger when it's not "their turn." So, I scratched my head and looked for some alternative solutions. I found that I could get a dedicated device that works anywhere using cellular service. But I really don't feel like getting four new cellular plans, plus, they really don't need it when they are out of the house, they only use it at home.
Walking through our Miami Retail Outlet, I noticed the AOL Instant Messenger from Motorola. At first, I thought it was the same thing I found that could be used on cell phone networks, but I was wrong. It was a in-home wireless device, with a simple plug and play USB transmitter. So, with this device, I could have one of my children chatting with their friends on their own like AOL "blackberry" around the house. I bought one right away - after getting it home, I plugged it in and charged the device. This little AIM device is really cool. It's a great size, has a full keyboard and allows me to see who is online, just like my buddy list on the web, and chat with friends from anywhere in the range of the transmitter.
One problem, the kids couldn't get it out of my hands! So, I got in the car and went to the store to get another one. I wanted to make sure they wouldn't have any problems with a second one in the house, so I read the manual very carefully. I found that I could have up to six (6) of these units on a single transmitter! WOW! So, I wanted to get five more - but there were only three left.
I couldn't be more amazed with this device - full QWERTY keyboard, all in a small, lightweight device that easily charges and works like a charm! Plus, if you can go from transmitter to transmitter without any real trouble - and it's secure too!
With my "need" for two more of these units, I let our buyers know that we should get more of them. Within 20 minutes, I received an email stating that they had found them and were available for order, how many did I want? I replied TAKE THEM ALL!!!
So, it ends up that they were selling for a higher price than we had previously found them for - but it also seems that once these are gone, there aren't any more - anywhere! What you have here is a limited time opportunity to get one of the last remaining AOL/AIM Messengers that will ever be available.
As I mentioned, we found they were going to cost us more than we previously paid, so we had to raise the price as well, which for a $69.99 list price, this is now nearly half off for the unheard of price of $39.99.
But even that isn't good enough for my TigerDirect customers - so I went to bat and made a phone call to every person that could influence this situation - and I think I got a great deal. Here's the scoop:
You get the AOL/AIM Messenger and Transmitter for $39.99 ($69.99 Value)
The unit does NOT require a monthly subscription. You may use it with your existing AOL or AIM screenname. If you don't have a screenname for AOL or AIM, you can get one for FREE at http://www.aim.com.
There are no service fees.
There are no connection fees.
Then, you get a $40 Mail - In Rebate - so this unit costs you NOTHING*!
Yep, FREE*! Zilch, zero, zippo after rebate.
I can't think of any reason not to get this device to make your life more "accessible" on the go around the house - and even in your yard - within the range of the transmitter.
A broadband or dial-up internet connection is required on the PC to which the device is connected in order to reach the AOL/AIM Instant Messaging Service for communication.
Remember, once these are gone, these are gone forever. Adios - Bye Bye!
Get one while they last!

and conditions of the specific rebate offer as published on the rebate
form and associated documents.
